The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course gives you the essential skills and confidence to respond quickly and effectively to accidents and medical emergencies in the workplace. It’s a hands-on, one-day course that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 — recognised across the UK by employers and industry bodies.

What the course covers.

​

Our EFAW training is practical, engaging, and focused on real-world scenarios. You’ll learn how to:

 

• Understand the role of a first aider and keep yourself and others safe

• Carry out a primary survey (DRSABCD) and assess an emergency situation

• Perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and use an AED (defibrillator)

• Recognise and treat choking, bleeding, burns, and shock

• Place a casualty in the recovery position

• Respond to heart attacks, strokes, and seizures

• Deal with minor injuries, cuts, grazes, and eye injuries

• Record incidents and understand basic first-aid legislation

 

By the end of the day, you’ll have the knowledge and hands-on experience to act confidently

when someone needs immediate help.

The First Aid at Work (FAW) course provides comprehensive training for those who want to become fully qualified first aiders in the workplace. It’s an in-depth, practical, and nationally recognised qualification that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 — trusted by employers across the UK.

 

What the course covers.

This course goes beyond the basics, giving you the skills, confidence, and knowledge to deal with a wide range of first aid emergencies. You’ll learn how to:

 

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a workplace first aider

  • Conduct a thorough primary and secondary survey

  • Provide effective CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and use an AED (Defibrillator)

  • Manage unconscious casualties and place them in the recovery position

  • Recognise and treat severe bleeding, burns, fractures, and shock

  • Respond to heart attacks, strokes, asthma, diabetes, and seizures

  • Manage choking incidents, eye injuries, and head injuries

  • Handle minor injuries such as sprains and cuts

  • Record and report incidents correctly in line with HSE guidance

By the end of the course, you’ll have the practical ability and confidence to take control in an emergency and provide life-saving assistance until professional help arrives.

The Paediatric Emergency First Aid course gives you the essential skills, confidence, and knowledge to respond calmly and effectively when a baby or child is injured or becomes unwell.

What the course covers.

 

This course focuses on real-life scenarios and practical skills so you can act quickly and safely in an emergency. You’ll learn how to:

​

  • Understand the role of a paediatric first aider and how to stay calm under pressure

  • Assess an emergency situation and carry out a primary survey

  • Perform CPR on infants and children, and safely use an AED (defibrillator)

  • Recognise and respond to choking, unconsciousness, and breathing difficulties

  • Control severe bleeding and manage shock

  • Treat burns, scalds, and minor injuries

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Recognise childhood illness including febrile convulsions and Meningitis

Working in the equestrian industry comes with unique risks — from horse handling and stable work to riding injuries and farm hazards. Our EFAW course for the equestrian industry equips staff, riders, and yard managers with the essential skills to respond confidently to accidents and emergencies on-site

What the course covers.

This EFAW course focuses on practical skills tailored to equestrian environments. You’ll gain the knowledge to:

​

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider

  • Conduct a primary survey (DRSABCD) in any emergency

  • Provide CPR and safely use an AED inc. CPR in children/babies

  • Recognise life threatening conditions susch as heart attack & angina

  • Manage choking in adults and children/babies

  • Manage severe bleeding, burns, and shock

  • Place a casualty in the recovery position

  • Manage seizures and the effects of temperature

  • Recognise and respond to fractures, head injuries, and horse-related trauma

  • Treat minor injuries such as cuts, grazes, insect bites and stings

  • Deal with downing and smoke inhalation 

  • Deal with crush injuries

  • Communicate effectively with emergency services and record incidents correctly

All training is practical, hands-on, and scenario-based, so you can confidently respond to injuries in barns, arenas, and riding schools.

  • Recognising cardiac arrest and responding immediately

  • Performing high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants

  • Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively

  • Working confidently as part of an emergency response team

  • Communicating with emergency services during a critical incident
